Legal Question in Family Law in California

Legal obligations of sperm donor

A friend of mine is considering donating his sperm to me for an In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). I told him that, as far as I'm concerned, he will have no responsibility towards me or the child and that he can visit the child if he wishes. We both live in California. Would he have any legal obliigation towards me and/or the child? If there are, can we choose to override the ones which we do want to be applied to this case, through a legal agreement?

Re: Legal obligations of sperm donor

Family Code Section 7613(b) provides that when a man donates sperm through the services of physician is not the father of a child born by a woman not his wife. So long as the sperm is donated through a doctor and the woman is artificially inseminated the sperm donor should have no obligation for child support.
