Legal rights of parents with a minor child with a child
My grandaughter recently gave birth, she is 17 not married, the father is 23, what are his rights and what are the parents rights regarding their daughter in order to protect her and the child.

Depending upon the circumstances he may have all of the rights of a father or no visitation rights. In regard to keeping him away from her, there are several factors to consider. First does she want to have contact with him. If she wants contact with him there is little that can be done to keep them apart. Second how badly do her parents want to keep him away from him. They could contact the police and report his conduct and demand that he be prosecuted. Third in regard to his having contact with the child what is their goal. If they want no visitation Then having him prosecuted will result in a paternity test. If he is the father unless the pregnancy resulted from forceable rape he will probably be allowed to have visitation with the child.
