Legal Question in Family Law in California

How can I legal secure my home?

Here the situation I owned my home for 11 years prior to getting married we did not sign any prenatal agreement.

We have live together as man and wife but not financially. Due to the fact that when we married he had child support and prior bills he needed to financial handle, which were his obligations. So we split household expenses, utilities, car insurance, ect down the middle.

Our checking/saving accounts all also separate.

Approximately a year after we were married he was able to obtain primary custody of his son whom came to live with us the financial agreement remained the same.

I dont feel he is entitled to any part of my home because he has not contributed toward it.

He has live as thou he were just paying rent for himself.

My question is: Is there anything I can do to legal secure my home even thou we have been marriage for 8 years?

Re: How can I legal secure my home?

If you owned the home before you married him and have not changed the title to the property to add his name it remains your separate property in the event of a divorce. The cars, furniture, credit card debt etc that have happened during the marriage are community regardless of whose name is on the account or whose paycheck was used to buy it unless you have an agreement in writing. It's called a prenuptual by the way, prenatal means before birth.
