Legal Question in Family Law in California
Legal Separation, Protection from Legal Financial Judgement
If husband and wife file for legal separation, and the husband gets sued because of a car accident or business issues .. and there's a judgement against the husband, could they come after the wife? If the husband has no money to pay for the judgment -- would a legal separation prevent the plaintiff against the husband from pursuing another judgment against the legally separated wife?

Re: Legal Separation, Protection from Legal Financial Judgement
Based upon the facts that you have given there would be no direct cause of action or liability of the wife. If the husband and wife still owned joint property, that joint property could be attached to satisfy a judgment. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
