Legal Question in Family Law in California

Legal Separation

My wife and I are separated. Before this happened we bought a house together. She has not paid any portion of the mortgage and has left me with other outstanding joint debts. Now she is saying she wants a legal separation. She makes more money than I do. How could I expect the finances to be handled by the court? Will she have to pay her share of the mortgage?

Your spouse may be required to pay you spousal support, based upon your statement that she makes more money than you do. You will find a detailed discussion of spousal support at my web site. I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer without delay.

Good luck to you!
