You are only legally divorced when a judge signs a judgment that decrees that your marriage is dissolved.

Even with such a long separation, you must file a petition for divorce and go through the procedural steps to get a final judgment to terminate your marriage. It will be VERY important to check your credit report and get information from your spouse for these last 7 years so you are not surprised by debt that he may have gotten while you were married but separated.
