Legal Question in Family Law in California
is he still legally married
If you are married in the philipines and then leave your wife and then still keep in touch. Is there any way of just being divorced by not being there and never doing no paper work. and if you never got a divorce from the girl in the philipines and then married again here in the states a few years later is that marriage in the philipines still legal. and what about the marriage here in the states? he has a kid whith both girls.. the story is much longer I just need any kind of information to find out the facts.
Thank you,

Re: is he still legally married
The first marriage is valid. The second marriage is invalid. California and so far as I am aware other states do not consider a marriage to be disolved by the lack of contact between the spouses.
Re: is he still legally married
There is no divorce actions allowed in the Philippines, therefore, with little doubt he is still married to the first wife and the second marriage is invalid. He can file for divorce here in California, although the the marriage was in the Philippines. Then he can validly marry the second wife. Pat McCrary
