Legal Question in Family Law in California

I'm legally seperated with a 17 yr old daughter. My ex keeps complanining that she can't afford to live in Ca. anymore and wants to move. She has a friend that has a big house in NY where she can go. However that would mean that my daughter will not be able to finish out her senior year with her class, something she has asked us to respect. I currently live in a home renting a room. I would do whatever I could so that my daughter can stay. Can my ex do this without my permission.

You can object to the move. You should however, be prepared to provide a plan as to where and how your daughter will live in California. You may have to rent an apartment or other appropriate housing for her. A factor to be considered is that it is very difficult to make a 17 year old do anything they don't want to do.
