Legal Question in Family Law in California
I live abroad and I have two sisters who live in California, as does my mother. My mother has been put into an assisted living home just recently but I am being denied access to her via telephone calls by my sisters and the home she is now in. I was not given the telephone number, that came after hours and hours, and many calls of investigation. My mother has no reason to not want to talk to me as I have always been exceptionally close to her - but not to my sisters. Is there anything I can do to legally challenge them and or the home for not allowing my calls to be put through to her?

You did not indicate whether your sisters have a conservatorship or legal guardianship over your mother and her resources. If they have such a court order, you as one of your mother's children should have given legal notice of the application for this order. If you were not provided with such notice, then there is a problem with the guardianship. If your sisters do not have a guardianship order then you should have the same access to your mother as your sisters.
You may need to contact a probate or family law attorney in California about working with your sisters to be allowed have contact with your mother.
