Legal Question in Family Law in California

Live in California. Married in May of 1986 in Vegas and I kicked him out less than 2 years later because he threatened to kill me. He was using heroin too. No contact whatsoever since then. No kids or property together. I don't know where he is but I know he was staying at his fathers house a number of years ago. Can I have the divorce papers served at his fathers residence?

Only if your process server can find him there or establish he currently lives there. If not, you'll have to find out from his father where he is. If the father doesn't know, you will have to ask the court for permission to serve him by publication.
