Legal Question in Family Law in California
I live in California. I just got served some papers stating that my soon to be ex is filing for sole custody of our child. The papers are filled with strait up lies about me (I'm sure to try and win favor with the courts). I wish to have sole custody, but I have no Idea how to proceed. What should I do about the lies she has told about me and how should I go about partitioning for custody?

If she has an attorney, you REALLY need to get one of your own. Even if she doesn't have one, you really should at least get a consulting attorney under a limited scope representation agreement to help you with this. Courts do NOT favor sole custody. They want children to have regular and frequent time with both parents unless that is impossible or not in the child's best interests. When both parents are asking for sole custody, it is a sign that there is a real mess and usually it means that the children's best interests are not being considered. Having an independent professional assisting you to sort this out will be invaluable.
