Legal Question in Family Law in California

I live in San Diego Ca and I'm looking at a divorce. My question is: can I withdraw half of the balnce in our common bank accounts (checking & savings) I need to move out of my house.

Thanks,

Yes, you may use community funds for ordinary expenses of life. You can even open a separate checking account in you name only in to which you transfer the funds.

There is nothing that would prohibit you from withdrawing funds that you own in common with your husband. You will most certainly be charged with those funds upon a final judgment. You should obtain a consultation with a family law attorney who can give you more specific advice. Good Luck, Pat McCrary

You can and should take half the liquid assets and put them in your name. Just be sure you account for them properly in all financial disclosures you will be required to make in the divorce process.
