Locked out of my home

I took my children from an abusive sitation. My husband has changed the locks. I am not able to enter to get my family's belongings. Is this legal?

Re: Locked out of my home

You have the right to enter the house. Call the police and request a police standby while you enter the house to obtain some belongings. The police will not break into the house, you will have to get a key for the house.

Have you considered getting the assistance of a domestic violence shelter, or retaining an attorney to pursue a restraining order removing him from the house and ordering him to pay your attorney fees.
