Legal Question in Family Law in California

How long does one have to store anothers property during a seperation/divorce? If items are placed in a storage unit is the cost of said unit at the expense of the person storing the items or the owner of the items?

Until there is a division of marital property both parties are obligated to preserve the marital property and not sell, lien, encumber, or dispose of it. Once you have divided the property, if you are in posession of property that has been allocated to the other spouse, they must claim it within a reasonable time. You do not have to store it for them in a storage unit.
