Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have a long story. I had joint custdy of my daughter, then my ex kidnapped her which is a felony everywhere but NY. She was also trying to collect support in numerous states. Also having drug charges. Since she is the mother, they believe everything and refused to do any investigation and award her custody. She then claims i moved, filed for full custody, giving a false address for me so they could not contact me. I hear nothing from them for 4 years ater she got custody and disappeared. Now, i am getting letters from NM asking for child support and she hasent even lived in NM for a few years. If the original order was anywhere but NY, she would be in prison and I would have my daughter. I live in CA and se does as well, now, but the orders are through other states. What can I do? I want my daughter back and her to have a normal life. And to stop getting screwed because i am a father.

If you, the mother and the child all live in California, you can petition the New York court to abstain, and then file for custody in California. It's not cheap or easy, but that's the only way to go.
