Legal Question in Family Law in California

I love my husband, but we've had issues in our marriage because he spends too much money. What are my options in terms of keeping our finances separate? I do not want my finances or credit score ruined because he is terrible with money. A friend had recommended a post-nuptial agreement which states that our finances will be separate. What is a post-nuptial agreement? What are my options if I want my finances separate from my husband? I thought about filing for a separation so that our finances would be separated but we still want to live together. I live in San Francisco, CA. What are my options to protect myself financially. I want to separate all of my finances (bank accounts, credit cards, keep my salary, etc). What are my options?

You've asked several times "what are my options.... " well close all joint accounts and establish accounts in your own name if possible if you're at risk from your spouses spending habits.

"What is a post-nuptial agreement?" Do you know what a pre-nup is? A post-nup just means a contract entered into after the nuptial (the wedding).
