Legal Question in Family Law in California

Low Income Divorce

A friend of mine is currently separated and trying to get a divorce. The reason why they haven't is because of lack of money. They can get it down now by just filing paperwork for it. But would like to take their spouse to court to gain half of the profit made from a property their spouse sold during their marriage which would go for their children they had during their marriage. Is there any options they have to be able to obtain a lawyer or get this done for a minimal fee?

Re: Low Income Divorce

You can check out the pro bono project, or legal aid society in your county, they sometimes provide free or low cost attorneys for divorce matters.

Another option is a paralegal to help you draft your divorce papers, or to read self help books in your library.

Good luck, as always please consult with an attorney prior to taking legal action.
