Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have made a horrible mistake and am looking at having to go to jail. I am currently receiving alimony and I am afraid that my ex will stop making payments or go to court to get the alimony stopped.

I need the alimony more than ever if I go to jail so I can save it in order to get a new apartment after I get out.

Can he do either or both attempts to stop alimony? How can I fight it if I am sentenced to going to jail?

You can only change court orders from the date you file a request with the court to change them. So if he doesn't file for court orders he keeps paying. If he files for a change, the basis is a change in circumstances, and he can make his arguments and you yours. He can argue you have a decreased need for support because you don't need the money while you are incarcerated and you can make your counter arguments.
