At the time you file for divorce, you may also consider filing a motion requesting the release of items and furniture you may need to relocate.

If you plan to move and are concerned he may damage or dispose of property you leave behind, take photographs of the items with date stamps so you have evidence of what was in the house before you left.

Possession of items at the time you separate does not control how they are to be divided in your overall division of property.
