I have been making child support payments for 1.5 years. My income has decreased by over 50 percent. How can I get a decrease in child support payments.

You need to file an Order to Show Cause for a modification of child support. If you file it immediately then the court can go retroactive to the date you filed the Order to Show Cause. If your income has decreased significantly then the court is more than likely to reduce your support payments if all of the factors such as timeshare with your child, the other parent's income and other factors that were taken into consideration by the court in making the original order, remain the same today.

Best of Luck.
