Legal Question in Family Law in California

Marital Property Agreement

I have been married for one year. I have a townhome

that I owned prior to the marriage for over 8 years. We

are in the process of buying a new house together now

and husband is asking for me to sign an agreement

that basically outlines his portion of separate money

that will be part of the down payment and if he uses any

of his separate money to pay down the loan in the

future his portion percentage of ownership goes up.

The agreement does not mention my townhome at all.

He signed a quit deed claim when I refinanced the loan

a few months ago. He expressed no interest in my

townhome yet he did not mention that in the agreement.

Should I have a section regarding my townhome on the

agreement and what should it state?

Re: Marital Property Agreement

You probably should have something about your property in the agreement. However, this is not a simple situation and you need the assistance of an attorney in preparing this agreement.
