Legal Question in Family Law in California

Marriage Abroad

I would like to get married to a Bulgarian citizen. We would like to get married in Bulgaria. Do we have to apply separately again for marriage in the States? Also, I make more money than he does. In the event of a divorce, would he have any claim over property or bank accounts that I currently have in the States?

Re: Marriage Abroad

You marriage abroad will be recognized in the US. If you are living in CA then any property you have before the marriage will always remain yours, he has no claim to it. Just keep it in separate accounts in your name only.
