Marriage

i thought I got married in 1992. needed to get a copy marriage certificate and found out we aren't legally married. what problems might occure in the future, family, properties, social security etc?

You are what the law calls a putative spouse. You may not qualify for direct pay from retirment benefits if you get divorced. You would have to get your benefits from the other spouse indirectly. If possible, I would recommend getting legally married as soon as possible. I am not sure how the Social Security Admin would handle this if you never got legally married.
