Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have never been married but have a child from a previous relationship. I'm going tro be getting married and we want ot make sure our assets are protected from my child's mother. Does she have any right to anything we have because of my daughter who I have physical custody of, but joint legal custody?

Without marriage, domestic partnership, agreement, or doing business together, former intimate partners get no greater claim on your assets than the man on the street. If you have physical custody of your daughter 100% of the time, she doesn't have any support claim either. The only way the mother could go after any assets you have or acquire would be if she got custodial time that resulted in you owing her child support, and then you didn't pay it. At that point she could go after assets just like any other creditor.
