Legal Question in Family Law in California
Getting married without getting divorced
I got married in 1993 in Orange county and never got divorced.
Now I am going to get my new marriage licence in a different county to marry someone else. What will happen? We have all ready paid for everyting and family has made arragments to fly here. I am so scared that my fiance is going to find out when we go to get our licence that I was married before.
When I first stated planning I thought my ex had already filed and now I found out that he had'nt. I need to Go ahead with this new marrige.
Will they go ahead and issue me a licence with out anyone finding out?

Yes, they will issue the license and you will go to jail.

Your new marriage will be void and you may be prosecuted for bigamy. You need to file for divorce prior to remarrying if you wish to have any of the rights and privileges of being married. I can assist you wih the divorce even if you do not know where your "X" is. Please call me directly at (619) 222-3504.
Re: Getting married without getting divorced
Your new marriage will be void. I doubt that you will be prosecuted for bigamy. It is very possible that you will never be caught because there is no cross checking of divorces and marriages. Sit down with your pastor and with your fiance. If he cannot be trusted with this error that you have made, which is really quite innocent, why would you trust him with your entire future. No one needs to know why the marriage is delayed, except you and him. The marriage is for you and him, it is not for the relative. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
