married, but live separate, how long will divorce take

My spouse and I are married, but have lived separately for over a year and a half. Do we still have to wait 6 months before a divorce is final and if so, is there a way the waiting period can be shortened?

By statute the six month period commences to run when a petition for dissolution that has been filed with the court is served to the responding party. There is no provision for shortening this time period.
