Legal Question in Family Law in California

I was married in mexico and now i'm separated, but not divorced. I would like to know if my marriage is valid here as far as having to share common property with my ex and if i would have to get divorced here from a marriage that took place somewhere else.

Yes if youa re married in another country it would be recognized here in the US as well. You still need to go through the process of getting a divorce here in the US.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.

As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
