Legal Question in Family Law in California

I'm getting married this October to a women who makes pretty much the same salary as me. I have a great pension and want to protect it in the event of divorce. However, we can't afford 2 separate lawyers to draft a prenup. Is there a way to write our own prenup and still protect my pension?

You probably do not need the full services of two lawyers. You could have one attorney draft the agreement, and then have another review it, The reviewing attorney's fee would probably be fairly miminal (e.g. a couple of hours.).

Mr. Kane is correct in that two lawyers do not need to draft the prenup. Each spouse, however, must have the right to independent counsel, or waive that in writing, in accordance with statute, or the prenup will be unenforceable.
