Legal Question in Family Law in California

Married in 2 different states to same person

I recently filed for a legal seperation/divorce. I was

married to the same person 2 times once in Nevada

1/1995 & once in New York 6/1996. There was no

divorce or seperation in between one was personal

,one for family. It is registered in both states. The

company ''We the people'' who is handling the divorce

said they will file on the Nevada marriage. Do they need

to file for both places Nevada & New York, or when the

divorce is final will it be in both states?

Thank You,

Sue

Re: Married in 2 different states to same person

i would file on the most recent one. better yet, you might list both on the petition. be very careful of "we the people" i am working on a case now where my client lost her home because they screwed up her divorce by leaving out a single sentance in the divorce papers. you would be better off going to www.nolo.com and getting a do it yourself divorce kit.
