Legal Question in Family Law in California

I got married to my second wife about 10 years ago, but I recently found out that my divorce from my first wife was not final. I thought she had gotten a judgment of divorce, but it turned out that she didn't. So, I got a divorce from the first wife, a few months ago.

Am I married to my second wife do I need to get married to her again?

If you never completed the divorce in the first marriage, you did not perfect a marriage to your current wife. There may be a way to back date the termination date of your first marriage to leave intact your current relationship. Please consult with a skilled family law attorney.

What Ms. Kock refers to is a nunc pro tunc judgment of divorce. The literal translation is "now for then." Some judges will grant this, in situations similar to yours. But it also appears that you already obtained a judgment, and will have to remarry. Look on it as a fun thing.
