Getting Married

We have been together for 12 years but are not married. We would like to because he has become very ill but he is afraid that his CS will follow me when he dies. IS that true?

The unpaid child support will follow his estate. The property he owns when you get married will remain his separate property unless he takes steps to transmute it to community property. You really should consult with an attorney immediately. The advise you receive here will incomplete since all of the facts are not known.
