When someone wants to divorce you, you have no choice in the matter. You have to accept the divorce and make the most of it. If counseling can help you can try counseling or other means to save the marriage, but if his heart is set on it, then you must make the best of the worst situation.

You do have rights to property and spousal support if you have nothing, but it would depend on whether he has the ability to pay you support. If he is modest income then it may not be much, and you will need to start figuring out a way to support yourself. Start with a consultation with a local attorney.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.

As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
