Legal Question in Family Law in California

I was married for eight years. I have been separated for 11 years. On Friday at my divorce could I ask for alimony. Since he left the kids and me we have had to struggle. I was a stay at home mother with no developed skills that would command decent pay.

Yes, you can ask for alimony. The alimony will be based either on an agreement between you and your ex or a decision by the court itself. Court always see the economic status before arriving on any result. Even if you are not satisfied with the decision you can try to get it modified by filing a case again.
