Legal Question in Family Law in California
hello, I am going through mediation for a divorce and need to know if i have a legal right to half my house. it was purchased 5 years ago. my ex wife and i married 4 years ago and had lived together for 3 years before the purchase. we used a V.A loan so i wasnt able to be on the loan because we were not married yet. although my credit was pulled and i had to supply my financial information, along with gifting 5k for the escrow account. Do i have any legal right to this house either from common law marriage or domestic partnership?

Yes, but there is no common law marriage in California,
Determine the equity in the property and then determine whether you wish to pursue your interest in the home. Many facts are needed to determine your interest in the house. Contact a local family law attorney and make an appointment. Then gather all documents regarding the purchase of the house and payment of the mortgage after the purchase. A free 1/2 hour consultation may be enough to determine your interest and whether it is worth pursuing.
