Legal Question in Family Law in California

Mental/Financial Abuse

My husband and I lived together for 20 years and were married last February. He is verbally abusive, withholds food and medical care. I told him that wanted to end the marriage so he forged my name on a change of address form and had my mail forwarded to my Mother's address. He said his friend is putting together a divorce package(?) that he wants me to sign and he wants me out of the house now. I cannot afford an attorney and would like to know if there anything I can do to protect myself.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Re: Mental/Financial Abuse

Contact the police and ask about the local abuse shelter and help group. Do not sign anything until it has been reviewed by an attorney. You should search for an attorney that will represent you and collect the fee from the husband.

How did this happen? Perhaps you have a "palomony" claim. Does your husband hold assets? Contact me directly.
