Is a Mexican divorce legal in the state of California?

I was assaulted by my husband in May of this year. He pled not guilty and the case is going to a jury trial. My ? is If I obtain a Mexican divorce I was told that they could get me custody, and that it would take only 15 days and my husband could not contest it, but they couldn't get me child support. We have 4 children. Is this legal in California, and could I try and get child support from him later, or will I have given up my right to that in not asking him for it during this time, and how does a person go about recording a divorce like this in California once it has been completed? I just want this divorce over and done with as soon as possible. Any help or advice you could offer in terms of an answer would be greatly appreciated.

If you are not a resident of Mexico, a divorce from Mexico would have questionable validity and if your children had not lived in Mexico for six month, the custody order would have no validity. Do this right and file an action in California. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
