Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am in the middle of a legal separation, turned divorce. My husband was emotionally abusive during the marriage, and I am disabled due to medical problems and unable to work. I would like to have someone to act as an advocate in court. Is there such a thing, and if so, how do I access them?
