after a minor child turns 18, can a parent do anything to keep you at home?

Provided that you do not have any mental or physical disabilities, you are technically an adult and are free to move out. On the other hand you are going to be expected by society to be self-supporting through legal means and capable of paying your debts, etc.. You may want to consider carefully what your strategy will be for moving out into a suitable home and being able to support yourself.
