Re: when can a minor deceide

The opinions and desires of the child are considered by the court at all ages and the weight or value given those opinions or desires becomes greater as the child gets older. The desire of a 3 year old is given little weight and the desire of a 17 year old is given much weight. You should talk to an attorney who does child custody in your county. I taught a seminar to attorney's a few months ago concerning the rights of parents to move the residence or stop the move of the child from the county, it is a complex area of law, you should have a professional opinion.
