Can a minor legally live on his own without being emancipated?

Can a minor legally live on his own without being emancipated?

I am 17 years old, and my birthday is May 22, 1987. I am currently a Junior in high school in Fremont, Ca. My parents are retiring and moving 50 miles away(to Tracy, Ca). I will inevitably have to change schools, so I will be continuing school once a week through a home schooling program in Fremont. I proposed to my parents that I enroll in college 1 year early, and live in an apartment in Fremont(college is in Fremont). I currently am holding a job that can support over 50% of my income, and I am extremely fluent with my finances (Stocks, Savings/Checking, Credit card, bills, etc...). Even so, my parents will still need to help me out financially. Is it legal for me to live on my own while not being emancipated? If not, is it possible for me to be legally emancipated while recieving financial support from my parents?

A parent can provide financial assistance to a child regardless of the childs age, and status. Your parents could provide financial assistance to you. As far as living on your owne unless there is a problem it is unlikely that anyone will know or care. If you were emancipated you could then enter into a contract and otherwise conduct your affairs as an adult. It would also relieve your parents of any responsibility for your conduct.
