Legal Question in Family Law in California

minor refuses to move to her mother's house

I have a 17 year old daughter who has been increasingly difficult. Belligerant, runs away, sneaks out at night, doesn't obey house rules etc. Her mother and I are divored. We agreed that she should move in with her mother who lives in Iowa. I currently live in California. Our daughter refuses to go and the local police tell us we can not force her to go to her mother's place. The police also tell me that neither they nor I can force her to come home when she's run away. None of this seems right. Please advise on how to get her on that plane to her mom's!

Unfortunately California law has fallen that far. Children have been placed in control. You should contact a counselor and attempt to get your daughter to go with you.
