Legal Question in Family Law in California

Misdemeanor - Domestic Violence

I am a 21 year old male college student that will be graduating from college in May 2008. I have never been assert or convited of a crime up to this point. My girlfriend and I got in a heated agrument back in Oct 2007 and I bit her lip. My girlfriend never received stitches and she looks like nothing ever happened. My girlfriend is not pressing charges, but the DA is pressing charges. My question is do you know any cases like this one and what was the outcome?

ask your girlfriend to refuse to testify, that should send the DA packing. If they don't have evidence, they don't have a case. you should not testify unless of course your attorney advises otherwise.

Do not plead guilty. Make the D.A. take you to trial.

Don't just handle this on your own. You need to get an attorney.

I had a case where the wife recanted her story, but the husband was convicted anyways. I later found out that the D.A. gets more convictions when a wife or girlfriend recants than when they stick with their story.

There area questions that need to be answered, such as: Why did you bite her lip? Was she fighting with you, too?
