Legal Question in Family Law in California

Modification of custody from out of state

I've just recently moved to Utah, my 2 boys,9&10, are in Calif. with their father. I lost them by default in 1995. At this time he remarried an ex-felon which I didn't know this until a year ago when I moved back with him to be with my boys. He threw me out in March, since then I've lost my job, my car was totaled, I had a minor nervous breakdown, it's been bad. I would like to know if there is anyway for me to get some kind of custody from here or should I go back? He and his new live-in are hitting them, they want to be with me. Is there a chance from here and what is the price range? Thank you

Re: Modification of custody from out of state

UT does not have jurisdiction. you dont have to move back to CA but you will have to file your papers here.
