Legal Question in Family Law in California
Modify decree of divorce
I was divorced in 2003 in Nevada, since meeting to sign divorce paperwork I have not seen or spoken with my ex-husband. We filed a non-contested divorce and did not specify who was taking what property, as a result, I have been unable to register a vehicle we co-financed in California where I have been living the past 5 yrs. I would like to file a motion to modify our decree. I was able to locate a deed with an address that I also matched the documents I requested from the NV DMV but am getting no response when I've tried contacting him. What options do I have to get this taken care of and can the court or an attorney help me locate him? Also, since I am a resident of CA can I file such a motion with the State of NV to modify the divorce decree?

i doubt that the courts are going to reopen a case to make an order distributing assets. you might want contact a supervisor to register the vehicle. show him or her a copy of your judgement.
