Legal Question in Family Law in California

My Mother is trying to adopt my child without my approval!

My mother has had guaridanship of my daughter since Oct. 2003. I originally gave over guardianship due to the fact that i was going to enter the armed forces. After going through the process, i did a lot of research on the war in Iraq, and decided that i did not agree with the cause, I am happy to fight for our country, but not for no reson. I moved back to huntington beach from riverside county to get a job, and back on my feet. My mother and i had a verbal greement that this was a temporay situation, as stated on the guardianship papers. I have not been allowed to see my daughter, Dakota since Dec. 23, 2004. Before that she and i had a good relationship. I am now in school, and working. I am not, and never have been a drug user. I have no criminal record at all. And i believe that there has been no reason for this. The reason that so much time has passed is because i have been trying to play be my mother's rules. She served me on Saturday, March 12. She is filing for adoption of Dakota. What paperwork or forms should i bring with me to cout when i go to contest the adoption???

Re: My Mother is trying to adopt my child without my approval!

From your message it would appear that you voluntarily gave you mother guardianship so that you could enlist in the military, but then did not go into the military.

If you do not want to lose your child through adoption, you need to hire an attorney to oppose the adoption proceedings.
