Legal Question in Family Law in California
please help my mother she has had cancer twice and my father is leaving her with nothing they were married for 20 years and she got a inheritance from someone who was not family is my dad in title to half of it in there divorce.

Your mother needs to consult a family law attorney. If she kept the money that she got from the inheritance separate from community accounts and has documents that can be traced from the inheritance to her - there should not be a problem in having the court award her this money as her separate property. If the inheritance got co-mingled with community funds - there is a problem. A cost/benefit analysis should be done as to the chances that a tracing proved by subpoenaed records a forensic expert and a family law attorney is worth the expense.
