Legal Question in Family Law in California
I (mother) along with my daughter attended a consultation with a family law attorney. During the meeting I asked about his fee. Both my daughter and I agreed to hire him, which I paid his cost. My question, can I be kept informed of the Child Custody, Vistation and Child Support case by the attorney? Or is he in no way obligated to answer any quesitons of mine. Although my daughter is 27 she has stated she doesn't understand and I'm concerned the Attorney may not focused on our top concerns which is the Child Custody and Vistation. The child support is non important because the father of my grandson is not currently employed and has no desire to ever work.

In this case, he is only obligated to communicate with your daughter because she is the client. It does not matter who pays the fees. Your daughter may give him permission to communicate with you, but I do not believe he is under any obligation to do so. Perhaps another attorney has a differing opinion.
