Legal Question in Family Law in California

My mother has dementia. I am her only son. I am 50 years old. I work for the City of Los Angeles. My mom's sister has been controlling my mom's finances while I have been living with my mom for the past two years. My aunt has power of attorney - I Think. My aunt refuses to allow me to care for my mom's finances and now wants to commit her to an assisted living facility. What can I do?
