my mother in law has custody of my son and refuses to let me see or speak to him,he tells me he wants to come back home.do i have any rights as his mother?

Without knowing the circumstances and court proceeding which gave you mother in-law custody, no answer can be given. If the order was made by a juvenile dependency court then there should have been a reunification plan. Timing is everything in cases such as this.
