Legal Question in Family Law in California

want to move with child

I live in California and want to move to Colorado for a job offer. I have a 14 yr old son that I share joint custody with his father. I am not sure what his father will think (he hates me b/c I was able to get his spousal support that I was paying him stopped b/c he was cohabitating). He will probably try and stop me for this reason. What kind of battle am I looking at?

Only an attorney from your area can really give you an opinion, but you do need permission from the court before leaving.

You best approach would be to either get an agreement from father that you can move or get a court order allowing the court order. Depending upon the circumstances you should have a good chance of getting the order allowing you to move.
